This is a nice bit of worldbuilding, giving Mr. And one or two warlords actually wanted to take the Kenmiri's place and reconquer everybody else. But now the real fun starts: while all the other races hated the Kenmiri, they didn't like each other much either. The humans made an alliance with the other races and managed to defeat the Kenmiri, abet by committing war crimes. This frightened the Terrans, which is always a bad thing. Then they made the mistake of trying to conquer the human race.

In the Peacekeeper series the merciless Kenmiri galactic empire had enslaved most of the races around Terra. Stewart has pointed it out to me it is obviously a necessary job. Personally I've never encountered that position in any other science fiction novel, but now that Mr. Because the Chief Engineer is too busy preventing the ship from falling apart to answer stupid question from the captain. But the other ten percent of the time the OE has to frantically collate reports from across the ship and provide summaries to the Captain. Nine times out of ten the OE just repeats what the Chief Engineer (down in the engine room) says. He introduced a new combat starship position on the bridge watch: Officer for Engineering. Civ starships are not commonly slammed around by hostile weapons fire, but this is common with warships. But they are not used on the bridge of a combat starship because the projectors are too blasted fragile. For example, in the Peacekeeper series, civilian starship bridges have holographic projectors. His worldbuilding is so well thought out that I already have used two or three different quotes from his novels to illustrate important points.Īnd the logical consequences have been thought out. The backgrounds of his series are composed of elements finely meshed like the tiny gears of a Swiss watch, ticking away precisely. Stewart specifically created the situation generating the consequences so that they could be explored by the novel. Specifically how he has carefully thought out the unintended consequences. His scientific accuracy is very good, he won the heat radiator award on about page 94 of the very first book I read.īut where he stands head an shoulders above the rest is in his worldbuilding. Stewart to my attention, and it didn't take much reading to find that here was an expert craftsman. This game wouldnt be playable in a classroom setting without heavyhanded assistance from someone who knows what they are doing.Peacekeepers of Sol is the latest science fiction series by master story-teller Glynn Stewart, with Raven's Peace the first novel in the series. For banjo and kazooie n&b you create vehicles to solve whatever your goal is at the moment, where as this game your first goal is to launch your rocket off the ground, then its get to the moon, then its progress further beyond the moon where the smallest detail could cause your rocket to explode and killing your astronaut. The closest game I would say is banjo and kazooie nuts and bolts but that game didnt have the detail as Kerbal Space Program.

This game is really a one of a kind game, theres nothing really like it. This game is not something you can play on a short burst or a game where you can pick it up in a single class, this is a long game and rewarding due to its game design. You don't need a ton of prerequisite knowledge to get started but to get anywhere you really have to try and actually research techniques that will help you succeed in leaving the galaxy. This game is about engineering and rocket science. This game is extremely complex, high school students or college students really. This is a huge timesink, I cant stop myself. It encourages creativity but if you want to be successful you have to combine actual engineering techniques and its a blast to surpass yourself on previous runs. I love the idea of building your own rockets and getting far far far away. This is a game I played way too much, I have like 200hrs on it on steam.
